In 2016-2018, Alberta received a significant increase in the number of refugee claims within in the province.
This policy brief provides background about the refugee claimant process, and outlines the experiences and challenges of both refugee claimants and service providers across the province. These challenges are then combatted through as series of recommendations to federal, provincial and municipal levels of government, as well as AAISA and the media.
