Certification
AAISA continues to offer Canada’s only certification program for qualified settlement practitioners.
Level 1 Certification
Level 1 Certification is designed for newly hired settlement staff planning to transition to the Settlement Practitioner role and staff looking for refreshers. Level 1 has no application deadline, as certificates are issued automatically upon completion of all five required courses. The five onboarding courses are offered on a rolling basis, allowing learners to complete all of them within six months at any time. We recommend applicants review the list of required AAISA Level 1 Onboarding Courses and our Level 1 Certification Guidelines.

Level 2 and 3 Certification
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE ACCEPTING CERTIFICATION APPLICATIONS AT THE MOMENT FOR OUR NEXT CYCLE WITH A DEADLINE OF SUBMISSION FOR AUGUST 31st.
Settlement Practitioners who meet the specified requirements are eligible for Level 2 or Level 3. Please read our Guidelines for Certification. Additionally, we recommend applicants review our Portfolio Checklist for Level 2 , Portfolio Checklist for Level 3 and the AAISA Level 2 and 3 Practitioner Module Training to guide their application process.
Application
Download the AAISA Certification Application fill it out, and submit it before the deadline. All applications must be received on or before 5:00 PM MST on the date listed.

Please note that going forward, there will only be two (2) application submission cycles in each fiscal year.
Please note: AAISA recognizes training from several institutions for the purpose of Settlement Practitioner certification. Candidates with prior training fall into the Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR) category. Contact us with any suggestions or additions to the training list.

Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
- Do I need Level 1 before applying for Level 2?
- No. If an applicant already meets the Level 2 eligibility requirements, they can apply directly for Level 2.
- Do AAISA courses count toward my training hours?
- Yes. Most AAISA professional development courses can count toward the required training hours.
- Can outside training count?
- Yes, if it relates to settlement competencies and meets AAISA’s requirements.
- What if I worked part-time?
- Part-time experience can count using Full-Time Equivalent (FTE).
- Who reviews applications?
- The Professional Standards & Certification Committee reviews Level 2 and Level 3 applications before certification is awarded.
